Anime Review: Clannad
Its been a while since I wrote an anime review but then again it has been a while since I was able to sit down and watch anime in close to 1 sitting as possible. Today’s review is going to be 3 in one. The Titles are Clannad, Clannad: After Story and Clannad the Movie. I chose to do 1 review because they go together really well.
Clannad is about a High School senor named Tamoya Okazaki. He is the protagonist who has to deal with a bad personal life and growing social life. Tamoya isn’t on good terms with his father whom he as become astranged since his mother died in an accident 5 years earlier. Throughout the series and even in the movie Tamoya resents his dad but when you watch you will be able to see the full reason
The series is about life’s ups and downs. It showcases the struggles of teenage life through adulthood given certain circumstances. The basic overveiew is that Tamoya Becomes friends with Negeisa. He helps her form the High School’s drama club. The whole First series Revolves around that. As the series progresses the relationship between Negeisa and Tomoya blossoms into a relationship.
That is where things become hectic. I will not write any spoilers because I am a firm believers for people to watch the series instead of things being told that could ruin the full effect.
Clannad: After Story follows up after the first season and things get harder for Tomoya and Negeisa.
The movie is a compact version of the the two series. It does combine the story line but things are slightly changed. However, I feel the movie does fill some plot holes and clarifies certain points from the series.
Overall the series is good. The series is from the same creators of AIR and Kannon. The animation style, story, and character development are high quality. I Fell in love with the characters and on an emotional level felt connected. This series is great to watch but be careful if you have seen Kannon or Air you will know that there can be some parts where you will cry.
I highly recommend this anime. It has everything that one could look for. Comedy, Drama, Suspense are all themes lurking around in this feel good, slice of life anime series.
Weight loss update
Since having the lapband surgery I am feeling fine. I have more energy, 8 hours of sleep is well enough for me, and I am spending less money on food. Though I still have cravings of being hungry I am fighting them as much as I can without caving in. I am already down to 340. That is a total of 25.5 pounds dropped. Now I Know my scale at home isn’t accurate so I am not using that my final number. I will use the Doctors scale at the Bariatric Clinic that I go to where they have a scale that has to be accurate.
Other than that. My weight loss is slow. That is what I am looking for. If i was loosing 20 pounds a week and about 80 pounds a month would be very unhealthy. Since the addition of the protein shakes and the more movement I have notice that the weight loss has slowed down as my body has gotten used the band as well gained just a little bit back. That weight that I have gained back I know is water weight so I know I that Drinking tea’s and water should help expel it.
I am looking forward to the Follow up appointment on May 31st. That is the day that I speak with the dietician for what foods I can eat and cant eat for the next few weeks after that. I should be on the mushy food stage for about 2 weeks before introducing harder foods. I have been doing research and I have found out what I am going to be taking in to work as my meal. I am figuring egg dishes like Tamagoyaki (Sweetened Rolled Japanese Omlet), Egg salad and teriyaki eggs. Other dishes should be chicken salad, tuna salad, seafood salad. Most of which will be all home made.
My current kick is the japanese BENTO tradition. I will be bringing a bento box to work. Inside that box will have my lunch. I figure if the Japanese have been eating out of Bento’s and most of them are a good weight I figure that should help me too. I will prepare the food the night before and pack the bento so that It is ready for work the next day. I think that should be a good tool too to help me loos the weight that I am looking for.
Other than the weight loss, I have been watching some anime that I Haven’t been able to watch since I was busy or didn’t have the time. I have completed the first 2 seasons of CLANNAD and I thought it was a totally excellent anime series by key the same producers of another series that has touched me in my heart KANNON. I am currently watching the CLANNAD After Story and has finished the first 15 episodes. I am working on the rest then the movie. This series is awesome and is a great follow up story
This storyline is similar to Toradora! but goes further than that series. It is very emotionally packed and I may have to re-watch Kannon again because It is a good series now.
I am also getting ready for a camping trip in June. Going up to Stewarts Pond Camp ground like I did last year. This year will be a bit different but should be as much fun or more. I have bought a family sized cabin tent 20 feet x 11 feet x 6.6 feet tent.and all the essential gear such as air mattresses, air pumps, lanterns, flash lights, rope, tarps, and etc. I still have small things to pick up but essentially the most part it is done.
I will be taking a small portable projector and a home made projection screen for our trip this year. Gonna have a nice family movie night under the stars if the weather permits. I know this year the weather is slightly OMGWTFBBQ if you know what I mean. But I cant wait.
For now that is all I have to write. I have to get ready for work. I have a 10 hour shift a head and I need to get paid
. You all have a nice day.
